Guardians: Marvel Cinematic Universe
"Who you tryin' ta mess with ese? Don't you know I'm loco?"
Roughly 43,000 years ago an alien race known as the Sha-Ghul discovered an unremarkable blue-green world in an arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Sha-Ghul’s technology was bio-mechanical in nature and powered by an energy source that can best be referred to as “Life Force”. Generally the more advanced the organism the more life force it possessed. However, the Sha-Ghul discovered one species that was unlike any other they had seen before… they had discovered the Cro-Magnon humans. Somehow these “fragile” ape descendents contained an amazing amount of life force within them… to the Sha-Ghul it was almost as if these flesh frames barely contained within them a nuclear reactor.
The Sha-Ghul themselves were a race under siege from the Chitauri and were fighting a losing battle. The Sha-Ghul were mostly explorers and scientists, not warriors. In desperation they decided that the primitive humans would make an ultimate weapon if paired up with Sha-Ghul bio-technology that could harness and unleash the power of the human life force. They created the first Guyver units with the intention of bonding them to the human’s apparently unlimited life force. The Sha-Ghul took several humans back to their home world and bonded them to the Guyver symbiote but this would be their doom. The early human mind was too primitive to control the Guyver symbiote which itself operated at a animalistic fight or flight level. The word “Guyver” in the Sha-Ghul tongue actually means “Out of Control”. The early experiments turned on their creators and the Chitauri when they were activated. They successfully drove off the Chitauri but also ensured the end of the Sha-Ghul civilization.
Many tens of thousands of years later an Elcor archaeologist discovered the Sha-Ghul ruins. Among the ruins he discovered an intact Guyver unit. The records uncovered revealed little about it other than it was a device intended to be given to the inhabitants of Earth. The Guyver unit was obviously something of great importance and the Elcor archaeologist felt that it was his duty to return it to the people it was obviously created for. Unfortunately for him, treasure hunters working for The Collector noticed his find though they weren’t sure what it was. Obviously the Elcor had found something of great value so they chased him to Earth to attempt to steal the “artifact”.
For some time the Elcor archaeologist observed the humans. He found their culture quite unusual… at once they could be capable of deeds of greatness as well as despicable evil. Having dealt with the histories of fallen empires the Elcor was committed to make the right choice in finding the right human to give the artifact to. From the relics discovered on the Sha-Ghul homeworld he had at least uncovered the basic idea of the Guyver Unit being a device meant to merge with a human host. While surveying New York City he discovered the dying body of a teenage Hispanic boy, Hector Ramirez. Hector had been shot trying to protect his brother from being forced to join a violent gang. The Elcor worked quickly and brought the boy aboard his ship. While the boy was unconscious the Elcor fused the Guyver with this host… the Elcor had learned that the Guyver would keep its host from dying. Unfortunately for the Elcor he did not realize that the Guyver would assume the host was in danger and react violently. The Guyver fought to free itself from the ship and killed the Elcor. At that time the treasure hunters made their move but completely underestimated the Guyver. All but one was slain who escaped in their ship to inform The Collector of what had happened. Free of threats the Guyver regenerated Hector’s body and phased back into its home dimension. When Hector awoke the following morning all about him were govt agents (SHIELD) collecting the remains of the alien space ship and alien bodies. Hector was questioned and then released when it was apparent that he didn’t see anything. Over the course of the next few weeks the Guyver unit communicated with Hector during his sleep revealing the method of summoning it and using its weaponry. Hector began his own crusade to eliminate gang crime in the Bronx using the Guyver suit. He has been extraordinarily successful but as a 18 year old hasn’t really thought of hero work beyond his local community. It will only be a matter of time until events unfold that force him to take a more global view on his heroics.
